During a family visit on the prison island of Imrali, Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan spoke about the importance of local organization and grassroots democratic politics.
In addition to Ömer Öcalan, Fatma Öcalan, Berfin Öcalan, and Ali Öcalan also participated in the meeting at the high-security prison in the Sea of Marmara on October 31.
DEM Party MP Ömer Öcalan wrote on X that his uncle was in stable health and sent his regards to the population. In terms of content, the meeting particularly emphasized the need to strengthen local organizational structures and further develop democratic, grassroots political practices.
“On October 31, we were able to speak with Mr. Abdullah Öcalan as a family. He emphasized the importance of local organization and forward-looking, grassroots democratic politics. His health and morale were good—he sends his warm regards to the people,” said Ömer Öcalan.
