FEDA to hold its founding congress in Switzerland

The founding congress of the Democratic Alevi Federation in Switzerland (FEDA) will be held on Sunday, 26 October, at Esen Wedding Hall in the city of Bülach, located in the canton of Zurich.

The congress will be held under the slogan “We are the subject of peace and the guarantee of a democratic society.”

Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit, co-chair of the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Parliamentary Group, will also attend the event and share her assessments on the democratic process and peace agenda in Turkey.

FEDA co-chairs Huriye Kabayel and Şahin Polat invited all Alevis living in Switzerland to attend the event, stated: “We are building a strong structure through local organization. We will stand in solidarity with all oppressed identities.”

FEDA spokesperson for Switzerland, Songül Aslan, emphasized women’s visibility within the congress and said: “Our goal is to unite Alevis under one roof. Together, we can solve our social problems.”

FEDA representatives underlined that the founding congress would mark “a new beginning in the struggle for peace, equality, and a democratic society.”

A high turnout is expected from the Alevi and Kurdish communities across Switzerland.
