Bahçeli: The founding leader’s February 27 call is fundamental to us

Commenting on the ongoing process in search of peace and democratization in Turkey, the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli said: “It is our fundamental duty to bring relief to the Turkish nation, which has been subjected to dark scenarios for decades with the aim of pushing it into the firing line of ethnic and sectarian polarization. It is the internal and external enemy front that triggers the Turkish-Kurdish division, which is devoid of art and genuine content.”

State Minister Bahçeli also drew attention to Cemevis (Alevi places of worship), arguing that “at the core of the matter, we are all Muslims.”

“We must demonstrate the courage and determination to remove obstacles one by one in order to be proactive about registering Cemevis as places of worship. We must show understanding and respect for our Alevi brothers and sisters who belong to the Islamic faith and view Cemevis as places of worship,” he stated.

Bahçeli pointed out that the work of the “National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission” established in Parliament was nearing its end and stated the following:

“We must avoid irresponsibility and blame. It should be understood that everything is for Turkey. Once we have crossed the sea, floundering in the river will benefit no one.  Those who shy away from this desire and goal will face very serious consequences morally, historically, conscientiously, and politically. In our opinion, no words, theses, proposals, or assessments other than the February 27 Imralı statement have any validity. The founding leader’s February 27 statement is fundamental to us. Anyone who walks on this foundation is a wise person.”
