On Friday 24 October, a highly anticipated concert for ‘Peace and Democratic Society’ will take place in Cologne. Organized by Hunera Mizgîn, the event will feature performances by Nûarîn, Xecê, Firmesk, and Berfîn Mamedova. The concert will be held at the Sartory Ostermann Saal, located in the city center.
The gathering of artists who represent folkloric, pop, and protest music in one concert has stirred excitement among music fans. Speaking to our agency, Lorîna Şewaqî said: “I listen to Xecê’s songs a lot. But having these four female artists performing together gives me a special thrill because each one represents a different color of our music. Watching them on the same stage in one night will be a real pleasure.”
Gulêya Heso also shared her thoughts about the concert: “I live in Dortmund. When I first heard about the concert, I was very happy because I’m a pop music fan. I used to listen to Firmesk only online, and this will be the first time I’ll hear her live. It’s also wonderful that the concert is dedicated to peace. The wish and goal of all of us is for the people of Kurdistan to gain their rightful status and live freely with their national rights.”
Xecê, who has captured millions of hearts with songs such as “Xezal,” “Gulê,” “Pismamo,” and “Keyfa min ji te re tê,” invited her fans to the concert in a short video, saying: “My dear listeners, I will be taking part in the concert organized by Hunera Mizgîn on 24 October. Come, let’s enjoy a beautiful, joyful, and lively time together.”
Another performer will be Firmesk, one of the leading figures in Kurdish pop music. Known for her clear and sincere voice and for singing in the Sorani dialect, Firmesk adapts the words of modern Kurdish poetry to pop music. Originally from Mahabad, she was forced to leave Iran due to government bans, moving first to Silêmanî and later to Germany. Continuing her art through concerts, she rose to prominence with her song “Dardî Darun.”
Another major draw for music fans is Berfîn Mamedova, a Kurdish artist from Kazakhstan known for her protest songs. In a video message, she invited her fans to the concert, saying: “I will be participating in the ‘Peace and Democratic Society’ concert on 24 October, organized by Hunera Mizgîn. We are waiting for you.”
Also performing at the concert will be Nûarîn, whose stage performances have always been widely praised. Known for her albums “Bes e Berxê” and “Hêvî,” she skillfully blends authentic Kurdish modes with modern sounds. For many years, she has been active in Kurdish cultural institutions and is known for performing her songs in a powerful, high octave.
