A delegation from the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES) arrived in Damascus on Sunday evening for talks with representatives of the Syrian transitional government. This was confirmed by reporters on the ground on Monday.
The delegation is scheduled to meet with officials from the ministries of defense and the interior during the course of the day. The talks will focus on security and military policy issues. The aim is to clarify existing coordination structures and negotiate possible joint mechanisms in the area of internal security and defense.
The commander-in-chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazlum Abdi, had announced that a military and security delegation would soon travel to Damascus to deepen existing agreements.
At the same time, a meeting between the Turkish government and the Syrian transitional government took place in Ankara the day before. Among those involved were Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Defense Minister Yaşar Güler, and intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalın. On the Syrian side, Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani, Defense Minister Murhaf Abu Kasra, and the head of the general intelligence service, Hussein al-Salama, took part in the meeting.
