The Co-Presidency of the KCK (Kurdistan Communities Union) Executive Council released a statement on the occasion of the 27th anniversary of the beginning of the international conspiracy targeting Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan.
The KCK statement on Wednesday includes the following:
“Twenty-seven years have passed since October 9, which marks the beginning of the International Conspiracy, in the course of which Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan was abducted. We once again strongly condemn this International Conspiracy, one of the dirtiest, darkest, and most sinister conspiracies ever perpetrated against peoples in history, and the forces involved in it. At the same time, we honor all those martyrs of the revolution and struggle for democracy, who immediately launched a counterattack in response to the conspiracy under the slogan “You Cannot Darken Our Sun!” and gave their lives in the process, above all comrades Halit Oral, Aynur Artan, and Selamet Menteş. We respectfully bow before their precious memories. The memories of these valuable comrades, who achieved great results with their historical stance of great courage, foresight, and dedication, will continue to be the light that illuminates our path. We draw strength from them and walk in their footsteps. As a result of the struggle that developed under their guidance and along their path, the International Conspiracy, which has not achieved its goal to date, will be fully foiled.
The conspiracy initiated on October 9 was planned and carried out as an international operation. It was carried out by international powers, primarily the US, Britain, and Israel. It began with the open threat to the Syrian state, which took place immediately after the assembly of NATO. Undoubtedly, the Turkish state was part of this plan due to its hostility towards the Kurds, but the developers and implementers of this plan were international powers. The forces of capitalist modernity, which shape the Middle East based on their interests and exploit it recklessly, developed such a plan because they saw the line of freedom developed by Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan as an obstacle to their capitalist imperialist goals.
Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan decided to leave Syria and went to Europe in order to prevent the war from deepening further and to develop a democratic political solution to the Kurdish question. Considering his decisive role in the emergence of the Kurdish question, he gave Europe an opportunity to compensate for its historical negativity. Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan’s decision to go to Europe rather than to the mountains is particularly meaningful in this respect. However, Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan’s goal was met with a conspiracy. European states, acting according to the US and NATO plan, failed to take advantage of this opportunity granted to them. In exchange for political and economic interests, they openly violated the law and values they claimed to uphold and supported the Turkish state’s policy of Kurdish genocide. The Turkish state, on the other hand, acted out of deep-rooted Kurdish hostility. It thought of nothing else but to firmly grasp the double-edged sword extended to it by the international hegemonic powers each time, to prevent any developments that would benefit the Kurdish people.
Many powers were involved in the International Conspiracy, each with their own separate interests. However, one of the fundamental aims of the International Conspiracy was to provoke a Kurdish-Turkish war. International powers aimed to maintain their dominance in the Middle East for many years by provoking a Kurdish-Turkish war in the region. The response to Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan’s efforts for a democratic political solution to the Kurdish issue through the international conspiracy is clear evidence of this aim of the powers behind the conspiracy. Indeed, the failure of both European states and other powers to provide serious support for the inevitable resolution of the Kurdish issue, and instead the pursuit of covert and overt efforts to keep the Kurdish issue unresolved, shows that this policy continues today. On the anniversary of the conspiracy, we call on all the political forces involved in this conspiracy to abandon their goals, cease the conspiracy, engage in self-criticism, and play a positive role in resolving the Kurdish issue.
Recognizing the aim of the International Conspiracy, Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan focused on the restoration of Kurdish-Turkish relations. He has advocated for the elimination of denial and the preference for living together in a common homeland based on democracy, equality, and unity rather than separatism. Despite the isolation, torture, and genocide system imposed on him throughout the 27 years on the Imrali prison island, he has persistently maintained this stance and fought for it. Today, the process is developing as the ‘Peace and Democratic Society’ process, which is the result of Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan’s stance and his struggle based on this. In this sense, the success of the ‘Peace and Democratic Society’ process will thwart the aims of the International Conspiracy, and the solution to the Kurdish question and the democratization of Turkey and the Middle East will be realized. It is the historical responsibility of our people and all democratic forces to understand this reality well and support Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan’s efforts aimed at reestablishing Kurdish-Turkish relations and, on this basis, finding a democratic political solution to the Kurdish question and democratizing Turkey and the Middle East. In this context, we call on everyone to further develop unity and expand the joint struggle for the success of the ‘Peace and Democratic Society’ process, which embodies all of these things.
At the same time, we are also entering the second anniversary of the global freedom campaign for the physical freedom of Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan, which developed as part of the struggle against the conspiracy. With the global freedom campaign, the peoples of the world, democratic socialist forces, women, and all progressive humanity have put forward the liberation of Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan and the solution to the Kurdish question as the most fundamental goal of humanity’s universal struggle and have launched this campaign. This struggle has produced great results and continues to do so. On the occasion of the second anniversary of the global freedom movement, we once again extend our greetings and respect to all international friends who have developed and supported this struggle, and we express our gratitude. Undoubtedly, the success of the ‘Peace and Democratic Society’ process will be achieved with Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan’s physical freedom. That is why we say that in the third year of the global freedom campaign, the time has come to secure Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan’s physical freedom. We must see this as our fundamental goal and, on this basis, intensify the struggle everywhere.”
