DEM Party delegation returns from Imrali after meeting with Öcalan

The delegation, consisting of Van MP Pervin Buldan, Urfa MP Mithat Sancar, and Asrın Law Office attorney Faik Özgür Erol, held a 3.5-hour meeting with Öcalan. Details of the meeting are expected to be announced to the public tomorrow in a written statement.

The first meeting within the scope of the ongoing process in search of a solution to the Kurdish question took place on December 28, 2024, with Sırrı Süreyya Önder and Pervin Buldan representing the DEM Party delegation.

DEM Party Co-Chairs Tuncer Bakırhan and Tülay Hatimoğulları, politician Ahmet Türk, DEM Party MP Cengiz Çiçek, and lawyer Faik Özgür Erol also joined the delegation at the second meeting on January 22, when Öcalan made his historic “Call for Peace and Democratic Society” at this meeting.

On April 21, Pervin Buldan and Faik Özgür Erol attended the meeting due to Sırrı Süreyya Önder’s health condition. Another delegation visit took place on May 18, following the PKK’s historic congress

Following talks throughout the summer and meetings held on July 6 and July 25, the delegation finally visited Imrali on August 28. Today’s meeting is considered a critical step in terms of the continuity of the process.
