Sheikh Maqsood and Ashrafiyah Council: Transitional government must abide by its commitments

Accompanied by residents, political party representatives, and civil society organizations, the General Council of the Sheikh Maqsood and Ashrafiyah neighborhoods in Aleppo made a press statement regarding the developments in the region.

The Council stated that the transitional government violated the agreement signed on March 10 between SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces) Commander-in-Chief General Mazlum Abdi and Ahmed al-Sharaa, the head of the transitional government in Damascus, as well as the agreement reached on April 1.

The Council emphasized that some groups affiliated with the Ministry of Defense violated agreements by blocking roads, preventing fuel deliveries, besieging neighborhoods, and targeting civilians. It stated that these actions recalled the Baath government’s chauvinistic policies.

Reiterating its support for the Syrian Democratic Forces, the Council stated, “The SDF represents not only us but all Syrians. It is the only force that protects women’s rights and gains, preserves Syria’s identity, and stands against division.”

The General Council of the Sheikh Maqsood and Ashrafiyah neighborhoods called on all Syrians to unite around the SDF, while also urging the Syrian transitional government to “abide by its commitments and hold groups responsible for violations accountable.”
