The Freedom for Art Initiative will hold a meeting under the title “Socializing Peace” on 20 September.
The event, to be held at the Eyüp Sultan Cultural Center in Istanbul, will bring together numerous journalists and will consist of three sessions.
The first session will cover topics such as global experiences in peace processes, Turkey’s policies of impunity, international examples of peace and negotiation, trials dealing with past crimes, and the practice of impunity.
The second session will discuss peace as a strategy of liberation from the 2015 “resolution process” to the present, what peace processes have brought and taken away since 1993, whether the media can reconcile with the Kurdish question, and field journalism within the war–peace equation.
The third and final session will host a forum on “The Role of Art and Artists in Socializing Peace.”
Participants will include journalists Abdurrahman Gök, Burcu Karakaş, Ahmet Güneş, Candan Yıldız, journalist and writer Metin Yeğin, and Yüksel Genç, coordinator of the Socio-Political Field Research Center, along with many others.
