In a written statement, the Press Center of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said: “Our comrades Brûsk Fırat (Bilal Total) and Diyar Xemgîn (Muhammed Toprak) gave their lives during key stages of our resistance, both against the terrorist organization ISIS and against the occupying Turkish state’s attacks on our region. Their struggle made a great contribution to the historic resistance of our people on the path to freedom.”
The statement added: “After a long and determined struggle in the ranks of our forces, our two fighters reached the level of martyrdom at different times last year. Both of our comrades gave their lives during key stages of the historic resistance, both against the terrorist ISIS mercenaries and against the attacks of the occupying Turkish state on our region.
We announce the martyrdom of our comrades Brûsk Fırat and Diyar Xemgîn with honor and pride.
Our comrade Brûsk Fırat embraced, from his childhood onward, a deep love for his country and the responsibility to protect it with unwavering faith. When he joined the ranks of our forces, he did so without the slightest hesitation. Coming from a patriotic family that had already paid great prices for national values, Brûsk inherited the spirit of revolutionary struggle from his family. His passion and commitment to resistance and struggle were boundless. He carried out every task assigned to him with great energy and managed to create the conditions for success even in the most difficult circumstances.
Our comrade became known as an exemplary commander with wide experience in the field. He stood out with a character that never yielded to hardship. In his work he always adopted an open, planned, and scientific approach; he made his goals a priority and implemented them with revolutionary determination.”
The statement continued: “Despite suffering from a severe back ailment, Brûsk carried out his duties with full strength and activity, never abandoning the struggle. He continued his tasks under all conditions without giving importance to his injury. On the frontlines he assumed great responsibilities, prioritizing collective struggle. He gathered his comrades, raised their morale, and carefully taught them the rules of combat, military tactics, and training. For him, the most important duty was to protect his comrades against treacherous enemy attacks. This careful and selfless attitude was one of the strongest reflections of his character.
Brûsk also possessed deep knowledge in political and military matters. He constantly developed himself and carried out discussions with a broad perspective. He effectively used his analytical thinking power and displayed a progressive and determined stance. He was not only a military commander but also a valuable political struggler.
His martyrdom was a great loss for everyone who knew him and walked alongside him. He fell as a martyr in the midst of duties and resistance for which he had assumed the highest level of responsibility.”
The statement underlined that “comrade Diyar Xemgîn was also a commander. He devoted himself to his country and defended his people’s values and national honor with all his strength. Wherever he went, he built strong ties with the people and became a source of light through his sincerity. With his modesty, impressive words, and genuine character, he earned a deep place in the hearts not only of his comrades but also of people whose views did not fully align with his own. He preserved his revolutionary spirit with pride and dignity; he never forgot that he was a revolutionary carrying the duty and responsibility of defending his people despite all difficulties.”
The statement said that “comrade Diyar, with his personality, became one of the symbols of our revolution and our forces’ resistance against all forms of attack. He was a commander who knew how to create opportunities out of scarcity, who developed means against hardship, and who produced effective tactics to achieve success in his work. The enthusiasm and courage he displayed in the battles he joined played a decisive role in victories. These qualities left a profound impact on his comrades.
Comrade Diyar also constantly sought to develop himself by attending professional trainings. Recognizing his shortcomings, he turned with persistence and determination to learning in both military and political fields; through this he achieved significant progress in his personality. With the duties and responsibilities he undertook, he became a consistently reliable commander. His noble ethics, sincere friendship, and strong spirit of comradeship made him trustworthy for everyone. Both in duty and in daily life, he preserved comradeship ties and strengthened the collective spirit. He rejected excessive individualism and valued communal life. His martyrdom has created a deep void for everyone who knew him and walked alongside him.”
The SDF extended ist “condolences to the families of both of our martyrs and to all the families of martyrs. Today, our determination to uphold the wills and trusts of our martyrs is stronger than ever. Until their wills are fulfilled and a safe and peaceful country is built, there will be no rest for us. Our struggle will continue without interruption in order to keep alive the values for which they gave their lives.”
