The General Command of the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria announced the launch of the fourth phase of the “Humanitarian and Security Operation” against ISIS cells at al-Hol Camp earlier today.

The operation is carried out with the support of the Internal Security Forces, the Internal Security Forces-Women, the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the International Coalition.

Attacks by ISIS cells in the camp have recently increased, with more than thirty assaults on humanitarian workers, sabotage of buildings and service facilities, endangering thousands of civilians, and obstructing aid and stabilization efforts.

The operation aims to protect the residents of the camp, ensure the safe functioning of humanitarian organizations, dismantle terrorist networks, track elements trying to reassert their influence, protect humanitarian agencies and their staff, and prevent the exploitation of children known as the “Cubs of the Caliphate” by strengthening awareness programs and psychosocial support.

The operation is being led by women, with the intensive participation of YPJ fighters and the Internal Security Forces-Women.

Speaking to ANHA, YPJ Commander Bêrîtan Hesekê stated that a significant portion of the women in Hol Camp are trying to pass on radical ideas to their children, saying, “There is an effort to create a new ‘Caliphate Generation’ in this way. It is our responsibility to stop this mentality and protect society.”

Bêrîtan emphasized that the operation was launched under the leadership of female fighters, stating: “The fundamental role of women in this struggle is not limited to defending women in North and East Syria. The YPJ is also the voice and defender of women around the world against radical and oppressive mindsets.”

Since its establishment, Hol Camp has been at the center of the international agenda with its humanitarian and security responsibilities. The YPJ and Internal Security Forces-Women, with the active roles they have assumed in ensuring the camp’s security and preventing radical ideas, have once again demonstrated women’s leading role not only in defense but also in social transformation.
