“No to Execution on Tuesdays” Campaign: 39 people were executed in Iran last week

The “No to Execution on Tuesdays” Campaign against the death penalty in Iran continued into its 84th week with the participation of prisoners at Lengerud Prison. This brings the number of prisons participating in the campaign to 51.

In a statement on the 37th day since the execution of political prisoners Mehdi Hasani and Behruz Ehsanî, the campaign reiterated its call for a halt to executions and respect for human rights.

The statement noted that the burial sites of Hasani and Ehsanî are still being concealed from their families, describing this as “forced disappearance and torture of the families.”

The campaign reported that 39 people, including two women, were executed just last week, bringing the total number of executions since March to 704.

“The successive executions are not only a violation of human rights, but also a policy of intimidating society through fear,” the statement said.

The campaign emphasized that these losses will not be forgotten by the people and that the struggle for freedom will continue in new generations.

The campaign drew attention to the growing will to resist in prisons, including this week’s participation. Finally, it offered its condolences to the family of campaign member Velî Daneşverkar and to human rights defenders following his death.
