Forest fire in the Besta region in Şırnak

A forest fire broke out on Tuesday in the mountainous Besta region of the Kurdish province of Şırnak. According to local sources, the fire is particularly affecting the Mirgomar area, which is located in the middle of a larger forested area.

Firefighters and emergency services were dispatched to the region. Firefighting operations are ongoing, and no precise information on the cause of the fire or the extent of the damage was initially available.

The affected region has been considered particularly vulnerable to forest damage for years due, among other things, to repeated deforestation, military activities, and uncontrolled fires. Environmental organizations and local initiatives have repeatedly pointed out the ecological vulnerability of the region in the past.
