65 Kurdish citizens taken into custody in a month in Iran without judicial warrants

Iran Wire said that at least 65 Kurdish citizens, including activists, environmentalists, and former political prisoners, have been arrested by the Islamic Republic’s Intelligence Ministry agents across western provinces over the past month.

The arrests, conducted between December and January, spanned multiple cities, including Sanandaj, Mahabad, Oshnavieh, Saqqez, Bukan, and Piranshahr.

Reports indicate that many of the detentions were carried out by plainclothes agents without judicial warrants and involved physical violence, said Iran Wire.

In late December, nine Kurdish citizens were detained in Saqqez and Oshnavieh, and their current whereabouts remain unknown.

Four additional individuals were arrested in Piranshahr, Sardasht, and Mahabad and were reportedly transferred to an Intelligence Ministry detention facility in Urmia.

After 27 days, families of the detainees have been unable to obtain any information about their loved ones’ locations, charges, or conditions, despite repeated attempts.
