Newroz in Vienna, Erfurt and Donostia

Newroz celebrations took place on Saturday in Vienna, Erfurt and Donostia. The event in Vienna was promoted by FEYKOM, the umbrella organization of Kurdish associations in Austria. The well-attended event began with a minute of silence for the martyrs of the Kurdish liberation struggle. Afterwards, the story of Newroz was told. Kurdish activist Cuma Tak gave a speech in which he addressed the importance of Abdullah Öcalan. Without the involvement of Öcalan, a solution to the Kurdish question would be inconceivable, Tak explained.

Austrian politicians were also invited as guest speakers, including Vienna National Council member Dr. Harald Troch (SPÖ) and human rights activist and Green Party politician Niki Kunrath. A video message from KCK Chairman Cemil Bayik was also played at the event.

Koma Rojava, Beser Şahin, Ayşe Şevaqî, Şeyda Perinçek and Tiyatro Potamiya performed in the cultural program.
