March 8 celebrations in North and East Syria

Celebrations in the cities of Hesekê, Qamishli, Kobanê, Manbij, Shehba and Aleppo are organized under the slogan “Together we will defend our revolution and liberate our land”.

HESEKÊ

Celebrations in Hesekê Canton were held in the Xerbî Dam area, the Martyrs’ Families Assembly area in Tell Tamer and the Syrian Revolutionary Youth Centre in Dirbesiyê.

QAMISHLO

March 8 celebrations were held in Girkê Legê, Til Koçer and Rimelan in the Qamishli Canton.

Thousands of people gathered at Heysem Keco Stadium in the city centre of Qamishli. Activists said that the struggle would be expanded until the areas occupied by the Turkish state are liberated.

KOBANÊ

Celebrations saw the participation of hundreds of citizens in the Kobanê Forest. During these celebrations, speeches are expected to be made on behalf of Kongra Star and YPJ.

MANBIJ

March 8 activities in Manbij were organized in the Muhterêq area in the village of Toq El-Xelîl.

Thousands of people from Tabqa, Raqqa, Kobanê and Manbij attended the celebration.

In a speech, Hala Ilwan, member of the Manbij Office of the Zenûbya Women’s Community, said that “March 8 is the outcome of the outstanding struggle and resistance of the working women of the world”.

Hala Ilwan celebrated Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan to mark the March 8 Day and urged women for unity to achieve their goals and build a democratic society.

ŞEHBA

8 March was celebrated in Elûşe village of Ehdas district in the Şehba Canton.

Members of the Kevana Zêrîn Movement sang a song about the revolution during the event.

During speeches, Abdullah Öcalan’s struggle and perspective on women and against the patriarchal power system were also addressed.

ALEPPO

Celebrations were held in Aleppo under the motto “Together we will defend our revolution and liberate our land” under the guidance of Kongra Star.

Thousands of Kurdish, Arab Assyrian and Turkmen women from Şêxmeqsûd and Eşrefiye districts attended the celebration in their traditional clothes.

The celebration took place in the Şêxmaqsûd District.
