Kurds stage long march in Helsinki demanding freedom for Öcalan

Kurds living in Finland have staged a long march in Helsinki today to mark the 23rd anniversary of the 15 February, 1999 international conspiracy against Abdullah Öcalan and to demand the freedom of the Kurdish leader who has been held in aggravated isolation in the Imrali Island Prison since.

Joined by their friends from Finland and other nations, the Kurdish activists covered around 15 km in the course of their march, which concluded at the Democratic Kurdish Community Centre on Rastîla Avenue.

Accompanied by music and anthems in Kurdish, the activists chanted slogans demanding freedom for Öcalan and condemning the Turkish state’s genocidal campaign and invasion in Kurdistan.

Tomorrow, February 13, Kurdish activists will stage a hunger strike in the Democratic Kurdish Community Centre to denounce the international conspiracy.
