Long March in Marseille concluded

A three-day long march was launched in Marseille, France on February 10 in protest at the February 15 plot against Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan.

The march demanding the freedom of Öcalan kicked off in front of the Martigues Municipality in Marseille with the participation of 167 activists from Marseille, Montpellier, Draguigan, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Avignon and Marignan.

After a minute’s silence observed in front of the municipality, a statement was read out and a dossier was submitted to the municipality. The activists wore vests and displayed banners that demand freedom for Öcalan.

During the march led by the Kurdish women’s movement, pamphlets were distributed, banners demanding Abdullah Öcalan’s freedom were hung, and hundreds of signatures were collected.

The first day of the march, which was attended by more people in the following days, concluded in front of the Marignan Commune Municipality. The activists, who began their march from Marignan on the second day, arrived at the St Antoine station in the evening hours.

On Saturday, a central march from St. Antoine to Marseille’s Canabiere square took place and the action was concluded with a rally in front of the Marseille Municipality in Vieux Port Square.

Activists observed a minute’s silence in memory of the martyrs of the Kurdistan revolution, which was followed by speeches and a poem written by a patriot for Abdullah Öcalan.
