Internationalist march reaches Saarbrucken

The internationalist march for the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan has reached Saarbrücken. The internationalists from many different countries spent the night with Kurdish families in Homburg and the surrounding area. In the morning, they met in Rohrbach. Before the start of the demonstration, the activists protested against the ban of Öcalan pictures by the German authorities. The preparatory committee made a short statement calling the ban senseless in an action for Öcalan’s freedom. The activists announced that during today’s stage, they will make visible who they are on the streets for.

The march then started in the pouring rain and reached Saarbrucken after 19 kilometres. Within five days, the internationalists have covered a distance of 128 kilometres.

In the evening, an event on internationalism will take place in Völklingen, followed by cultural contributions from different countries. On Friday, a demonstration lasting several hours is planned through Saarbrucken, from where buses will take them to Strasbourg.

The long march will end on 12 February with participation in the annual demonstration in Strasbourg on the anniversary of the abduction of Abdullah Öcalan. Parallel to the internationalist march, a long youth demonstration will take place in France. In addition to the demonstration in Strasbourg, supra-regional actions in Germany have been announced for Saturday.
