Internationalist march continues with great enthusiasm

Since Sunday, internationalists from different countries have been joining a long march from Frankfurt to Saarbrucken demanding the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan. Last night, the activists spent the night with Kurdish families in Mannheim. In the evening, a seminar on women’s studies Jineolojî took place, where Bêrîtan Amanos gave a lecture on the theory and practice of the Kurdish women’s movement and Abdullah Öcalan’s attitude towards the women’s liberation struggle.

On Wednesday morning, the internationalists gathered in the city centre of Ludwigshafen to walk thirty kilometres to Bad Durkheim in Rhineland-Palatinate on the fourth day of their long march. From there, buses will take them to Homburg in Saarland.

On the fifth day, a 19-kilometre route is planned from Homburg to Saarbrucken, where a demonstration will take place on Friday. Afterwards, the internationalists will travel to Strasbourg to take part in the annual demonstration on 12 February to mark the anniversary of the deportation of Abdullah Öcalan to Turkey.

Around 200 activists from many countries, including Latin America, Spain, the Basque Country, Catalonia, Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany, Scandinavian countries, Belgium and Austria will take part in the internationalist march. Parallel to the internationalist demonstration, a long march of the Kurdish youth movement is taking place in France.
