Maxmur people commemorate female commander Viyan Caf

The Martyrs’ Families Committee of the Maxmur refugee camp held a commemoration event for YJA-Star Commander Viyan Caf, who carried out an action of self-immolation in 2006 to protest the February 15 International Conspiracy against Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan.

YJA-Star (Free Women’s Troops) Commander Viyan Caf fell a martyr on February 2, 2006, after setting her body on fire to protest the international conspiracy against Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan.

A meeting was held at the Martyrs’ Families Committee in the Maxmur refugee camp to commemorate the female commander.

In a speech during the commemoration event attended by numerous people, a member of the Ishtar Assembly Coordination, Xantur Kara, commemorated all the martyrs of Kurdistan in the person of Viyan Caf.

“The line of resistance and struggle has always been successful throughout the history of humanity. What’s more, the line of betrayal has always been defeated. Viyan Caf and Mehmut Tunç recognized themselves with Öcalan’s paradigm and became our precursors. The residents of Maxmur are the people of Botan and have always reclaimed their martyrs. We commemorate Martyr Viyan Caf on the anniversary of her martyrdom and revere her,” Kara said.

Kara noted that the Kurdish people are getting closer to victory with each passing day thanks to their martyrs. “Martyr Viyan Caf immolated herself in response to the enemy forces and showed that a people who want freedom can always sacrifice their lives for Öcalan. Viyan showed that it is impossible to live without Öcalan. We repeat it; there can be no life without Öcalan. We condemn the February 15 Conspiracy and state that 2022 will be the year to secure the physical freedom of the Kurdish leader. We promise Öcalan and the martyrs that we will make their dreams come true.”
