Şenyaşar Family: Turkish judiciary becomes a partner in a crime against humanity

The justice vigil in front of the Urfa Courthouse launched by Emine Şenyaşar and her son Ferit Şenyaşar continues on its 283rd day. The father of the family, and two of his sons were killed in an armed attack on 14 June 2018 that involved AKP Deputy İbrahim Halil Yıldız’s bodyguards and relatives in the Suruç district.

‘LAWS ARE NOT ENFORCED HERE’

Ferit Şenyaşar said that the Justice Vigil is continuing under government persecution and the laws are not enforced in Urfa. He pointed out that the injustice they have experienced is visible to the public. “The chief prosecutor and the prosecutor dealing with the case do not see it because they take sides. The principle of fairness is violated. 3 members of my family were killed with firearms and lynched at the Suruç State Hospital. It has been 3 years and 5 months since the massacre, yet nobody is arrested. The prosecutors reject our demands. They are making fun of us,” he said.

Şenyaşar pointed out that some deputies of the opposition parties have expressed their concerns about the injustice against his family in the parliament. “I am calling on the Speaker of the Assembly and the Minister of Justice: This injustice is destroying Turkey. We want justice, and the perpetrators to be punished. My brother Fadıl Şenyaşar who remains in prison should be released. Our struggle will continue until justice is secured,” he said.

“The prosecutor clearly takes sides as he states that the murder was unsolved. He is becoming a partner in a crime against humanity,” the family said on their social media account.
