Garibe Gezer buried in Dargeçit

The convoy accompanying the coffin of Garibe Gezer, the young prisoner who died under suspicious circumstances on Thursday night in Kandira, was saluted by a large crowd who wanted to pay the last tribute to the young woman, despite the heavy police presence.

The coffin was brought to the Seyit Hasan Mosque.

Gezer’s elder brother, Emin Gezer, said: “We will not cry, we will stand straight.”

Garibe Gezer was buried next to her brother Bilal Gezer, who was killed in the 6-8 October Kobanê protests.

Addressing the crowd at the graveyard, Gezer’s mother said: “Garibe is not only my Garibe, she is a daughter of Kurdistan.”

After the burial, the crowd went to the house of condolence chanting slogans.
