2015 Ankara massacre commemorated in its 74th month

A commemoration event was held to mark the 74th month of the massacre in which more than 100 people lost their lives as a result of a suicide attack by ISIS during a peace rally on October 10, 2015.

Relatives of the victims, survivors and Human Rights Association (IHD) officials attended the commemoration where a minute’s silence was observed at 10:04, the time of the massacre.

“We said that we would keep our promise not to stop in the 6th year. We do not forget the persecution we have experienced here in its 6th year, and the police intervention,” 10 October Peace Association head Mehtap Sakinci Coşgun said.

“October 10 is a massacre. In order not to make it forgotten and to explain how important our struggle really is, we travel from city to city,” Coşgun added.

Coşgun said that after Çanakkale and Malatya they are going to Istanbul today. “It is the most populated city in Turkey, we sent many bodies there as many from Istanbul were among those massacred here. We will come together with the families, labour and democracy forces there. We have a bird and photography exhibition, and we will continue to increase this struggle with activities to commemorate October 10 in order not to make it forgotten,” she stressed.

Coşgun underlined that they would visit 81 provinces of Turkey and not let the victims be forgotten.

“We will continue to fight until genuine justice is secured. Even if the government persecutes us, this struggle will never end,” she said.

Coşgun noted that they would continue to protest in front of the train station on the 10th of each month. The commemoration was concluded with the crowd chanting the slogan ‘Don’t forget October 10, don’t let it be forgotten’.
