KOMAW pays tribute to Gulo family

Martyr and Missing Families Association (Komeleya Malbatên Şehîd û Wendahiyan-KOMAW) commemorated the Gulo family, who fell martyr in the Turkish state’s drone attack in Qamishlo, and said that they would be worthy of their memories.

KOMAW said in the statement: “While we commemorated our martyrs in November, we have received news of a new massacre which was the result of a new brutal and murderous attack by the Turkish Republic. A drone attack on Qamishlo on 9 November, killed Yûsif Gulo and his two grandchildren, Mezlûm and Mihemed. The Gulo family is very well known by our people.

These killings have caused us a lot of pain. The people of Kurdistan showed their reaction against this brutality by attending the funeral ceremony en masse.”

The statement continued: “Of course, the genocidal Turkish state will not be able to reach its goal with these attacks carried out to intimidate and alienate people from the struggle. On the contrary, as it is seen, the anger of our people against these murderous attacks is turning into an even greater determination and will of struggle, and an increasing loyalty to the freedom movement, which is its pioneer.”

The statement added: “In fact, as the Turkish state failed to defeat the heroic resistance of our people and the freedom movement, it is now bombing the entire people and geography of Kurdistan as a whole. In addition to chemical weapons, it has also started to use toxic and suffocating gases, which are prohibited by international laws. It clearly continues to commit crimes against the environment and nature along with crimes against humanity. Unfortunately, the world continues to remain silent against such crimes.

The targeting of the Gulo family in Qamishlo is a clear example of how Turkey deliberately targets committed families. This family has been active since the first days of the struggle and is one of the families that gave a high number of martyrs.”
