Freedom ship arrives in Naples today
Freedom Ship activists, left Lavrio, in Athens, on November 9, and will make a symbolic landing in Naples, today, the 23rd anniversary of the arrival of Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan in Italy.
Around 40 people, among which are intellectuals, writers, journalists, lawyers, civil society representatives and activists from different parts of the world, will be welcomed in Naples today.
While demanding the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan, this action also aims at bringing Abdullah Öcalan’s democratic confederalism project to wider audiences and to increase the struggle against the attacks of the Turkish state.
A busy schedule awaits the activists in Naples. The “Freedom Ship” will be welcomed at the Pisacane Pass in the port of Naples at noon. Here, activists are expected to make a statement regarding their actions and experiences along the way.
A public conference will be held at the Modernissimo Cinema in Cisterna dell’Olio at 4pm with the participation of different activists.
A concert will be held at Ex Asilo Filangieri (vico Maffei) at 9pm. The concert will feature ship activist artists Yelda Abbasi, Fatemeh Esmaelian Zare, Ferqin Azad, Ciccio Merolla, Carmine d’Aniello, ‘E Zezi, Davide della Monica and Suono d’Ajere.
