Saarbrucken group takes over the Freedom Vigil in Strasbourg
The Freedom Vigil was launched by the Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan Initiative on June 25, 2012 in Strasbourg, France to demand the freedom of Öcalan and an end to the isolation against him in prison. The vigil is carried out by the Kurds and their friends in Europe in groups every week.
A new group of activists from Saarbrucken, Germany, has taken over the vigil, which is carried out in an area where European institutions are located. The group includes Çavreş Tori, Nevzat Aslan and Nurettin Bozkurt.
‘TURKISH STATE COMMITS UNPRECEDENTED CRIMES’
Speaking on behalf of the group, Çavreş Tori pointed out that the states that contributed to the international conspiracy against Öcalan in 1999 are also the partners in all crimes against humanity committed by the Turkish state in the person of Öcalan. Tori stressed that Öcalan represents will of the Kurdish people and that the key to a democratic and peaceful solution to the Kurdish problem is to negotiate with him.
Tori recalled that the aggravated isolation against Öcalan continues and that no news has been received concerning his situation in prison, which has led the Kurdish people to worry about his health and general condition.
“Even his basic rights have been violated,” Tori said, adding that this is an unprecedented crime against humanity.
‘ATTACKS CAN BE FRUSTRATED THROUGH ÖCALAN’S FREEDOM’
Tori remarked that, “Öcalan is our red line”, emphasizing the connection between the Kurdish people and Öcalan. “It is not possible to talk about the freedom of the Kurdish people until Öcalan is freed.”
Tori called on all Kurdish people and their friends to secure the freedom of Öcalan and to lift the isolation against him. “The only way to end the Turkish threats of invasion, massacre and genocide is to realize his freedom.”
