HDP protests the detention of party members in Amed

Political genocide operations against the members of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) were protested in south-eastern province of Amed (Diyarbakir).

HDP deputy Semra Güzel criticized the detention of her party members and the attacks on district party offices. She said that the government is trying to hide its fear by using psychological warfare methods.

HDP Amed Provincial Organization made a statement to protest the detention of HDP administrators and union members in the city and the molotov attack against the Kayapınar district office of the party. Deputies Semra Güzel, Remziye Tosun, İmam Taşçıer, provincial co-chair Zeyyat Ceylan and party members participated in the protest staged in front of the Kayapınar district office.

‘THEY WILL NOT GET RESULTS’

Ceylan pointed out that the detention of party members and administrators and the attack on party buildings came before the party congress to be held on November 14. “We will still continue our activities. 19 of our friends are now under custody. These operations are neither fair nor moral. HDP is the representative of the peoples and an interlocutor of the solution. No matter what they do, they will not get results. Democratic politics and HDP will become stronger. We believe that they will not make gains by escalating the chaos and crisis. If the government insists on crackdown, not only the Kurds and HDP, but also other groups and parties will lose. Whatever they do, we will hold our congress on November 14 to expand the struggle against AKP-MHP racism and fascism,” Ceylan stated.

‘PSYCHOLOGICAL WAR METHODS ARE USED’

HDP deputy Güzel reacted to the detention of her party members and administrators, saying that the government is trying to spread fear among the public by using psychological warfare methods. “The government uses racist language in politics. This racist language unfortunately causes deaths, deepening of war policies and attacks against our party. Our friends have been detained after the government gave instructions to the judiciary. They are just scared of the struggle for democracy that we have been carrying out. What they want to do is to criminalize our struggle and prevent the union struggle. The government should know this; we know your mentality very well. The government has been introducing these political operations against us for years. This mentality relies on the dirty mentality of the past. If there is still HDP today, it is because it is struggling with the strength it gets from the people.”
