Activists in Switzerland discuss role of arms producing companies in war zones
The first of the activities within the framework of a campaign against arms factories was a panel attended by members of TCŞ (Tevgera Ciwanên Şoreşger), Swiss Climate Strike, Kurdish Community Center, JUSO (Socialist Party Youth Organization) and GSoA (Switzerland Without an Army – Gruppe für eine Schweiz ohne Armee), which advocates worldwide disarmament.
The role of arms factories in eastern Switzerland, which has served as Europe’s weapons depot since the First World War, in conflict zones, was the subject of a panel held in St. Gallen.
The responsibilities of these factories in the conflicts in Kurdistan, Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Syria and Saudi Arabia and the destruction in Kurdistan were discussed.
In the panel moderated by journalist Corinne Riedener, Nadia Kuhn from JUSO and Jonas Kampus on behalf of GSoA made presentations. The panel also drew attention to the attacks carried out by the Turkish state with chemical weapons. Activists said that they plan to carry out a series of actions against the use of chemical weapons in the coming days and underlined that the Rojava model should be defended.
