Kurds and their friends gathered in Toronto with the slogan ‘We will not allow the closure of the HDP, we will defeat Fascism together’.

Many people responded to the call of the Toronto Democratic Kurdish People’s Assembly and attended the two-hour march from Bloor Square to Dundas Square.

Activists at the demonstration said that the pressure against the HDP and the closure case it faces were “unacceptable”.

Passers by also showed great interest in the march, while activists chanted slogans such as ‘HDP is the people, the people are here’, ‘Freedom for Demirtaş’, ‘Freedom for HDP’, ‘Shoulder to shoulder against fascism’ and ‘We will win by resisting’.

One hundred English leaflets were distributed to Canadian citizens explaining the purpose of the march.
