Police detain scores in raids against the ESP

Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office ordered an operation in different cities against the ESP (Socialist Party of the Oppressed).

A number of people were detained in simultaneous raids carried out in Ankara, Istanbul and Antalya.

Among those detained are Şükran Yaren Tuncer, a member of the Socialist Youth Associations Federation (SGDF) Central Executive Board (MYK), and Ece Şimşek, an employee of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Headquarters.

The prosecutor’s office announced that a detention order was issued for 23 people. However, it is not known how many people have actually been detained so far.
