War veterans in Kobanê protest against Turkish attacks

A protest was held in Kobanê against Turkey’s continued attacks on northern Syria. The demonstration on Saturday was called by war veterans who have been wounded in the fight against ISIS and the Turkish occupation. The demonstration began at Free Women’s Square and continued to Şehîd Egîd Square. The final rally there was opened with a minute of silence for the martyrs.

Afterwards, Ismail Hemo from the House of the War-Disabled in Kobanê gave a speech and condemned the attacks of the Turkish army and its jihadist mercenaries on northern Syria: “The Turkish state attacks civilians every day. Most recently, even war veterans have been attacked, whose efforts have ended the territorial rule of ISIS. We demand that these attacks stop immediately.” The crowd also protested against the silent consent of Russia and the United States to Turkey’s attacks, which violate international law.

A week ago, three people were injured in Qamishlo as a result of a drone strike outside a rehabilitation facility for the war-disabled. In addition to the targeted airstrikes by killer drones, artillery attacks on civilians in northern Syria take place daily. In the fight against ISIS and resistance to Turkey’s occupation attacks, 22,000 people have suffered permanent damage in northern and eastern Syria, and about 12,000 have died.
