Images of destruction from the village of Dardara

Ignored by international opinion, the Turkish army and its mercenaries have intensified their attacks on Til Temir in recent weeks. The region, in the mostly Christian Chabur valley in the north-east of Syria, is under constant artillery fire. The village of Dardara is particularly affected. Journalists from ANHA news agency visited the village. Images of the destruction show the devastation caused by the use of grenades, which have left deep marks on people’s lives.

The village of Dardara, also known as Dirdara, is located about four kilometers north of Til Temir on the edge of the only expressway to Zirgan (Abu Rasen). It is located east of the already Turkey-occupied Serêkaniyê.

Villagers: We won’t leave Dardara

As can be seen in the pictures from the village, the artillery shells tore holes in house walls. The attackers also targeted worship places. The extension of the village mosque is in ruins, the place of prayer itself has been damaged. A small building used as a washroom was largely destroyed.

Residents reported that Dardara had been exposed to higher intensity attacks several times a day for the past three weeks. To be on the safe side, the entire village population would spend the night outdoors so as not to be hit in their sleep. “The aim of these attacks is to wear us down and, in the end, to drive us away,” ANHA quoted a resident of the village as saying. A 21-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man were injured in an artillery attack on Dardara on Monday evening.
