Police don’t allow anyone at funeral of HPG guerrillas

The remains of HPG guerrillas Musa Anter Çatak (Sidar Rizok) and Serhat Ericek (Rizgar Koçer), who fell as martyrs during clashes on 7 May in the Bagok Mountain countryside in Nusaybin, province of Mardin, were handed over to their families 4 months later.

Families applied to the Mardin Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office the day before after the DNA samples matched. As the remains were not delivered, the families once again came to Mardin on Wednesday. After the completion of the judicial proceedings, the bodies found in the Kamor Unemployed Cemetery in Artuklu district were removed from their burial place and handed over to the families.

Çatak family buried their child’s remains in Şex Hesen Cemetery in Idil in Şırnak paying for the transport by ambulance. The police, who blockaded the cemetery, did not allow anyone to attend the funeral.

Guerrilla Ericek was buried in the Mohris Cemetery in Nusaybin, province of Mardin. The cemetery was besieged by the police, and no one was allowed to attend the funeral.
