Guerrilla operation kills seven Turkish soldiers in Metîna

The People’s Defense Forces (HPG) Press Centre has released a written statement detailing the latest guerrilla actions and Turkish invasion attacks in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq). The statement includes the following:

“As part of the Cenga Xabur Revolutionary Campaign in the Metîna region:

On August 15 at 18:30 the Turkish troops in the Girê Koordine area were hit in a coordinated infiltration operation. At least seven soldiers were killed, and four others were injured during the action, after which the Turkish forces removed their casualties from the area by helicopters.

This successful revolutionary operation was carried out to pay tribute to the August 15 Initiative with the triumphal spirit of our immortal Commander Egîd.

In the Avaşîn region:

On August 15, the battle positions in the Girê Sor area were bombed with heavy weapons.

On August 15, between 06:00 and 19:00, the invading Turkish army used chemical weapons four times against the battle tunnels in the Werxelê area.

On August 15, at 21:30, the battle tunnels in the Werxelê area were bombed with explosives. Since the morning hours of 16 August, the battle tunnels have been bombed with poisonous gases. Reconnaissance activities are continuing in the area.

On August 15, between 20:00 and 01:00, Turkish helicopter activity was observed in the Qaşura area of ​​Metîna. On the same day, the village of Hirore in the Kanî Masî sub-district of Amadiya district was bombed with howitzers and mortars. The fire which broke out as a result of the bombardment, is continuing to sweep the area.

On August 14, at 19:30, the Karker area in ​​the Zap region was bombed by fighter jets and on August 16, between 03:30 and 04:30, the Çemço area was bombed with howitzers fired from the outposts on the border line.

On August 15, between 22:00 and 22:40, Turkish helicopters replaced the Turkish troops in the Mervanos and Tabura Ereba areas in Avaşîn region.
