People in Manbij celebrated the 5th anniversary of the liberation from ISIS mercenaries.

Manbij Democratic Civil Administration, representatives of civil society, military institutions and political parties also attended the celebration held in the City Square. After a minute’s silence, Manbij Civil Administration Executive Council co-chair Mihemed Xêr Şêxo addressed the crowd.

Mihemed Xêr Şêxo said: “Many martyrs have been given for the liberation of Manbij. We have never given up on our honourable stance.”

Faruq El Maşî, co-chair of the Social Affairs Committee of the Northern and Eastern Syria Autonomous Administration, said that the Autonomous Administration derives its power from the unity of the peoples.

Speaking on behalf of Manbij Military Council, Council Speaker Şerwan Derwîş said: “Great sacrifices are required for great purposes. I respectfully commemorate the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the struggle for the great cause.”

Syria Future Party member Hind Dagistani also commemorated the martyrs of freedom and reiterated the promise to increase the struggle following the path of the martyrs.

Manbij Zenubiya Women’s Group spokesperson Nesrin El Ali underlined the misogynist policies of ISIS mercenaries and pointed out that women have taken their place in every field.
