“August 15 was the revival of the Kurdish people”

Kurdish women living in Yershov in the Russian district of Saratov issued a statement on the anniversary of the August 15, 1984 Initiative. On behalf of the young women, Kewe Osmanova read out a statement in which she referred to the significance of the armed struggle in Kurdistan and the developments of the past 37 years. With the spirit of resistance at that time, fascism was defeated after the September 12, 1980 military coup in Turkey, the activist said and added: “The same spirit of resistance will defeat the AKP/MHP government.”

Bese Yusubova said it was thanks to Abdullah Öcalan and the PKK that the Kurds had awakened to new life. She said that August 15 made a significant contribution to this. “In the meantime, the Kurdish people have been recognized worldwide. Despite massive attacks, the guerrillas continue to fight for the liberation of Kurdistan.”
