Activists at sit-in in Geneva call for participation to 14 August march in Zurich

Kurdish people living in Geneva continue the sit-in protest in front of the United Nations office. The action is being held every Wednesday since January 25 demanding the liberation of Abdullah Öcalan.

The sit-in began with a minute’s silence in memory of the martyrs of the Kurdistan Liberation Movement in the person of Mahsum Korkmaz (Agit), commander of the 15 August offensive and İbrahim Çoban (Atakan Mahir), the People’s Defence Forces (HPG) Commander who fell a martyr in Dersim on 11 August 2018.

Salih Sağlam, co-chair of the Democratic Kurdish Community called on Kurds and their friends to attend the march to be held on 14 August in Zurich.

Sağlam said, “Kurdish people and Kurdistan are facing the biggest attack in their history. The nature, history, beliefs, ethnic groups and languages of Kurdistan face the genocide threat, and continuously resist against the attacks of the colonialists and occupant forces.”

The demonstration will be held at Helvetiaplatz on Saturday at 2 pm.
