HDP visits Thrace as part as the “We are HDP supporters, we are everywhere”

The Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) started its 2-day visit to Thrace as part of the “We are HDP supporters, we are everywhere” campaign. HDP deputy co-chair Şaziye Köse, Central Executive Board (MYK) members Ferhat Encü, Salim Kaplan made their first visit to Çorlu in Tekirdağ.

The HDP delegation, provincial and district organization co-chairs and executives, met with the Revolutionary Textile Workers Union (Dev-Tekstil Sen) Corlu Representative affiliated to Revolutionary Workers’ Unions Coordination (DİSK), Health and Social Services affiliated to Public Workers’ Union Coordination (KESK) and Workers’ Union (SES). The delegation, which visited the Textile Workers Union, was welcomed by Güneş Atalay.

Speaking during the visit, HDP MP Köse noted that there are many economic, health and political problems in the country. Expressing that the main factor in the emergence of these problems is the AKP-MHP bloc, Köse underlined the government’s rhetoric and practices which are increasing problems. Köse said: “Currently, women and workers are being killed in the country. Likewise, the environment is being killed. Forest fires are the latest attack on the environment. The government alliance also attacks certain groups, especially the Kurds. We want to stand together and oppose these policies. That’s why we’re here. To stand together against them.”

Salim Kaplan said: “The government aims to cut freedoms in this country with all its means. In a very aggressive manner. There is an AKP that has actually surrendered to the nationalism of the MHP. This poses a serious danger to us, the forces of democracy. We can define this situation as social hell.”

Kaplan drew attention to the ongoing isolation against Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan and the hunger strikes carried out in prisons demanding the end of isolation.
