Green Left Party calls for struggle against genocides

Green Left Party released a statement on the 7th anniversary of genocidal attack of the ISIS against the Yazidi community and called on all humanity to struggle against genocides and massacres.

Green Left Party said, “We condemn the Yazidi genocide and the range of firmans [decree of genocide].”

The statement continued, “7 year have passed since Shengal massacre in which ISIS killed thousands of Yazidis, kidnapped and enslaved thousands of children and sold women as slaves.”

“On 3 August 2014, the gangs engaged in ISIS slaughtered over 5 thousand Yazidis including women, children and elders in Shengal. They captured thousands of people and hundred thousands of Yazidis were forced to abandon their lands. During the massacre, approximately 2 thousand girls and women were kidnapped, enslaved and sold as handmaidens in slave markets” said the statement and continued:

“Although 7 years passed since the attacks on 3 August 2014, the wounds of Yazidi community have not healed yet. Today, Yazidis still face evacuation policies seeking to expel them from their centuries-old lands. Today, as in the past, Yazidis still face a threat of genocide. The international community should fulfil its responsibility against these threats faced by the Yazidis. Attacks against the centuries-old community of these old lands cannot be allowed; Yazidis cannot be allowed to be expelled from Shengal. Fundamental conditions of human life should be constituted in Shengal where the population should be provided with favorable conditions for their return and their security concerns should be relieved.

On the 7th anniversary of Shengal massacre, we express that we stand with the Yazidis who have faced pressure, persecution, and genocide throughout their history. We respectfully commemorate Yazidi people who were brutally slaughtered by ISIS and we call on all humanity to struggle against genocides, massacres and inhumane treatments.”
