Maxmur refugees: We will continue our struggle until the enemy is defeated

People in Martyr Rüstem Cudi Refugee Camp (Maxmur) took to the street to protest today’s attack and said that they do not accept the Turkish state’s persecution and that is why they are refugees. They added that they will resist until victory and not back down.

The people of Maxmur protested the Turkish state’s attack on Maxmur by gathering in front of the Martyrs’ Families Association building and marched to the Iraqi army’s checkpoint in Maxmur district chanting slogans. After a minute silence in memory of the Kurdistan Freedom Martyrs, a statement was read.

Maxmur People’s Assembly co-chair, Hacı Kaçan, then addressed the crowd. He emphasized the cooperation of the United Nations, the Iraqi Central Government and the KDP with the Turkish state and condemned the Turkish state’s attack on Maxmur.

“During this 28-year period of exile, the Turkish state attacked our free people dozens of times with the support of their ally KDP and NATO forces,” Kaçan said and continued: “Due to the Turkish state’s policy of destruction and denial, we had to leave our ancestral lands. Since the very first day [we were forced here] as mothers of our martyrs and followers of Leader Öcalan, we have never taken a step back and we will never step back. Until we defeat the enemy, our resistance will continue until victory. Despite all attacks, the attitude of our people here shows that we will continue to fight against the invaders.”

After the statement, a delegation on behalf of the camp people met with the Iraqi military forces. The Maxmur delegation called on the Iraqi forces to take a stand against the attacks of the Turkish state.
