The KNK calls for dialogue about the situation in the region of Metina

Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) Executive Council called for sensitivity and dialogue about the situation in the region of Metina in the Medya Defense Area.

The full statement is as follows:

“Dangerous events took place in the morning hours in the region of Metina. A group of peshmergas lost their lives in the tragic events. There were also injuries. The Kurdish people and their friends are saddened by what happened.

Clashes between HPG/YJA STAR forces and the invading Turkish army has been going on for nearly 40 days in the region of Metina. The outcome of the war is clear. The invading Turkish army with these attacks is also targeting the people and the nature of the region. 22 villages have been evacuated so far. Lands and woodlands were set on fire. 1,500 people had to migrate from these villages.

In his speech on June 2, the President of Turkey send a message of massacre to Kurds. He also said that they would destroy Maxmur camp. The some 13,000 people living in the Camp had to migrate to Maxmur [from North Kurdistan] due to the pressures of the Turkish state. The resulting picture is clear: The Kurdish people must take a common stance in order to foil the Turkish state’s genocide plan.

The problem between the Kurdish forces should be resolved through dialogue. For this reason, we have been striving for dialogue and peace for nearly a year.

We appeal to all parties. Problems should be resolved through dialogue. In addition, all Kurdish forces must fulfil their responsibilities.

Finally, we express our condolences to the families of the peshmergas who lost their life.”
