Strasbourg: Third week of sit-in action against Turkish occupation ends today

The European Kurdish Women’s Movement (TJK-E) and the European Democratic Kurdistan Community Congress (KCDK-E) launched the “Everywhere is Avashin, everywhere is Zap, everywhere is Metina. Dem Dema Azadiye!” initiative. The sit-in action is held in Strasbourg and its now in its third week. The action will last a total of four weeks.

The action, which started on 12 May and is held together with the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil, in front of the European institutions such as the CPT.

 

Files containing information about the massacres of Kurds are being delivered to the permanent representatives of the Council of Europe member states. On Thursday the files were given to representatives of Italy, Belgium and Luxembourg.

Panels on various topics have been held in the third week of the action which ends today.

A panel titled “Babek, Mazdek, Babai, Şahkulu, Celali, Qoçgiri, Sivas and Gazi Massacres” was attended by FEDA co-chair Demir Çelik.

Çelik said that the Turkish state carried out massacres against Kurds in the past and are still killing people today as it aims at exterminating Kurds.

The third week of the sit-in will end today and a new group of activists will take over the action on Monday.
