Kurds in Paris protest the US

The US offered several million dollars in 2018 for tips on the whereabouts of three leading members of the Kurdish movement. The public wanted notice was directed at the co-chair of the KCK Executive Council, Cemil Bayık, and two members of the PKK Executive Committee, Duran Kalkan and Murat Karayılan. US Department of State’s Decree on three members of the PKK leadership has been renewed in April 2021.

On April 14, the US Embassy in Turkey made an announcement on Wednesday, reiterating its Rewards for Justice Program for three leaders of the Kurdish movement. “Anyone who reports the location of key PKK figures Murat Karayilan will receive a reward of up to $5 million, $4 million for Cemil Bayik, and $3 million for Duran Kalkan,” the Embassy said on Twitter.

Kurdish activists living in Paris, the capital city of France have carried out an action in front of the US Consulate for 4 weeks. Today, they continued their protest against the US targeting leading members of Kurdish Liberation Movement.
The activists handed out leaflets containing background information and demanded an immediate reversal of the decision.

Necmettin Demiralp, co-chair of CDK-F (Kurdish Community Center-France) announcing the end of their action in front of the US Consulate and said, “We shall not allow the fascist Turkish state any longer to pollute the sacred lands of Kurdistan, cradle of all human values and mother of civilization.”

Demiralp called for participation to the action to be held at République Square in Paris at 15:00 on May 29 within the scope of “Time for Freedom” campaign for the freedom of Kurdish Leader Abdullah Öcalan and against Turkish invasion of Kurdish territories.
