Sit-in action in Strasbourg enters third week

The European Kurdish Women’s Movement (TJK-E) and the European Democratic Kurdish People’s Congress (KCDK-E) organised a four-week sit-in action in Strasbourg under the slogan “Everywhere is Avashin, everywhere is Zap, everywhere is Metina. Against occupation, genocide, Dema eat Azadiye!” The sit-in action has entered its third week.

The action started with a press release on 12 May and has been carried out with the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil, which has been going on for nine years.

The sit-in action, which was planned to last for four weeks, was taken over by activists from FEDA and CÎK organizations, the European Yazidi Federation, MARDEF and TJK-E activists from Düsseldorf.

This week, panels on various topics will be held on the occupation and genocide in Kurdistan.

A panel titled “Shengal Massacre” was held on Monday, hosted by Heci Hesen from the European Yazidi Federation.

Speaking at the panel, Heci Hesen said that the genocide carried out by the ISIS mercenaries against the Yazidi community in 2014 took place in front of the eyes of the world, beginning with the KDP and the Iraqi government.

Heci Hesen said: “Freedom Fighters came to the rescue of the Yazidi with the philosophy of Leader Öcalan.” He emphasized that they will continue their struggle until the autonomy of Shengal is achieved.

During the day, a documentary about the Yazidi Genocide was also shown. Artists from MARDEF joined the action.
