Freedom for Öcalan Vigil reaches week 466

The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil is taking place in front of the building of the Council of Europe and the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) in Strasbourg since 25 June 2012.

Groups of activists from all over Europe take over the vigil every week.

This is week 466 of the action and has been taken over by group of TJK-E activists from Germany .

Making a statement on behalf of the activists, Sakine Elbistan pointed out that the struggle for Free Kurdish Women is based on Leader Öcalan’s paradigm based on gender equality, ecology and coexistence, and drew attention to the fact that Kurdish women are fighting a great war against feudalism and slavery.

Elbistan added that “Kurdish women who organized and struggled on the basis of this paradigm became the leading force in the Kurdish Freedom Movement.”

Elbistan emphasized that “the isolation imposed upon Leader Öcalan is based on ending the Kurdish women’s struggle for freedom. The Turkish state kills women in the places it occupies and attacks. Breaking the isolation would be the victory of the women’s struggle.”
