KNK attends Sinn Féin conference in Belfast

The Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) attended Sinn Féin’s regular national conference in Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland. Osman Ismail participated in the conference on behalf of KNK.

Representatives from the DEM Party and the UK People’s Assembly Foreign Relations Commission also took part in the conference.

This year’s conference, held under the slogan “Building Ireland’s Future,” highlighted the issue of Irish unification as a central topic. Sinn Féin currently holds the position of the second-largest party in the Dáil, the parliament of the Republic of Ireland, with 39 members.

In her opening speech, Michelle O’Neill stated that as the 30th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement approaches, the agreement must be fully implemented. “Division has disappointed all the people of Ireland. The people of Ireland, Scotland, and Wales are expressing their desire for independence more strongly than ever,” O’Neill said.

The conference, which continued today with various side events, included sessions titled “Another World Is Possible: The Role of National Liberation Politics,” where different perspectives on the unification of Ireland were discussed.
