Qereçox massacre martyrs remembered

Hundreds of residents from the cities of Dêrik and Girke Legê commemorated today the anniversary of the Qereçox massacre martyrs in a national ceremony held at Martyrs’ Park on Mount Qereçox, marked by strong affirmations of escalating the struggle and safeguarding social unity.

The event began with a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs’ souls, followed by several speeches that collectively emphasized the sacrifices made by fighters in defending the region against external attacks and threats.

During the ceremony, Mohammad Saeed, a member of the Council of Martyrs’ Families, delivered a speech highlighting the resilience of the region’s communities in confronting occupation. He stated: “Our strength is drawn from our martyrs, and the enemy will not succeed in dividing our resisting people. Today, we live a genuine unity among Kurds, Arabs, and Syriacs—a unity consecrated by blood. We will not allow the Turkish occupying state and its proxies to undermine this shared coexistence.”

Rights achieved through ideology and resistance

For her part, Sharfine Dêrik, an administrator in Kongra Star, stressed that current achievements are the result of a long struggle. She added: “The recognition of the Kurdish people’s rights and the affirmation of our existence would not have been possible without the blood of the martyrs and the thought and philosophy of Leader Abdullah Öcalan. We are proud of those who have followed this path toward freedom, and we will remain committed to this approach until full rights are attained.”

The event concluded with the chanting of revolutionary slogans glorifying the martyrs and calling for the freedom of Leader Abdullah Öcalan, as participants renewed their pledge to continue the struggle and preserve the achievements of the Autonomous Administration and peaceful coexistence among all components.
