ISIG report: At least 852 children died in work-related deaths over 13 years

The “Child Labor Deaths Report” released by the Health and Safety Labour Observatory (ISIG) reveals the severe toll of child labor in Turkey. The report states that at least 852 children lost their lives while working between 2013 and 2026.

According to the data, the city where the highest number of child labor deaths occurred was Şanlıurfa (Riha). Among the children who died, 122 were girls and 730 were boys.

The report emphasizes that the majority of children were employed in agriculture. It states that:

– 52% of the deaths occurred in the agricultural sector

– 13% in construction and road work

– 8% in the accommodation sector

– 7% in the metal industry

– 3% in the food sector

According to the age distribution, 291 children were between 5 and 14 years old, while 561 were between 15 and 17 years old.
