In the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, camps of Kurdish parties from Rojhilat (East Kurdistan, Iran) have once again become the target of coordinated drone attacks by Iran. A camp of the Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan and a headquarters of the Kurdistan Freedom Party in the town of Sûrdaş near Sulaymaniyah were struck in the latest attacks.
According to party sources, a Komala camp was initially attacked. A representative of the organization stated that reconnaissance drones continued to circle over the area after the strike, preventing security forces from reaching the site so far. The camp had reportedly been evacuated beforehand for security reasons. It remains unclear whether anyone was present at the time of the attack.
A PAK base was also targeted with multiple armed drones. In a statement, the party held the Iranian regime responsible for the attack. A total of four combat drones reportedly struck the headquarters, injuring five Peshmerga fighters. However, no detailed information has yet been provided about the condition of the wounded.
Since the US-Israeli attacks on Iran at the end of February plunged the Middle East into a new war, there have been numerous drone and rocket attacks by the Iranian regime and pro-Iranian militias against opposition parties from Rojhilat that maintain camps in South Kurdistan. At least 18 people have been killed and dozens more injured in these attacks.
